Our Desires follow our attention
***Long ago Rhonda and I heard a message taught on the subject above that has impacted me for years. My desires will follow whatever I set my eyes and attention onto. My desires will drive my actions or in actions based upon what is filling my mind and imagination. In this day and age we see so many whose eyes and thoughts are focused on themselves and building their own kingdoms when we should be focused on the Only true king and His kingdom.
***Instead we see men obsessed with pornographic images and falling to opportunities to fulfill those things that fill their thoughts. We see man obsessed with a better job and higher position sacrificing marriages and children for the ladder of success. We see people whose thoughts are continually focused on what will I buy next letting the more important issues of the spirit take a back seat if they are in the car at all. Lord help us (Help Me) to have a singular vision on your word and your ways.
James 1: 22 But don’t just listen to God’s word. You must do what it says. Otherwise, you are only fooling yourselves. 23 For if you listen to the word and don’t obey, it is like glancing at your face in a mirror. 24 You see yourself, walk away, and forget what you look like. 25 But if you look carefully into the perfect law that sets you free, and if you do what it says and don’t forget what you heard, then God will bless you for doing it.
Luke 11:34 “The eye is the lamp of your body; when your eye is clear, your whole body also is full of light; but when it is bad, your body also is full of darkness.
Psalm 119: 37 Turn away my eyes from looking at vanity, And revive me in Your ways.
Prov 4:25 Let your eyes look directly ahead And let your gaze be fixed straight in front of you.
Psalm 119:18 Open my eyes, that I may behold Wonderful things from Your law.
